January 5, 2004
Mayor Roy Paslay called the January 5, 2004 Lecompton City council meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Council was present. Also present were the City Clerk and City Superintendent.
Ed Smith made a motion to approve the minutes of the December 15, 2003 meeting. Tim McNish seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Ed Smith made a motion to approve the bills. Mart Tunstall seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Bob, from the township, was present to discuss moving the fuel tanks at the township shop. This will be discussed at the next meeting. He also asked if the township could put a stockpile of rock by the sewer lagoon. Cyndi Treaster made a motion to allow the township to store rock at the old quarry. Marsha Paslay seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Tiffany Ball, city treasurer, was present at 7:10.
Ed Smith made a motion to approve both corrections on the city code. Tim McNish seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Cyndi Treaster make a motion to approve Ordinance #756, the new city code. Mark Tunstall seconded the motion. Motion carried.
The council discussed the accident Justin VanWinkle had in his personal vihicle while doing city business. The city insurance will not pay for the damage to his truck. Cyndi Treaster made a motion to pay the $500 deductible and the rate increase for 4 years for a total of $1100. Marsha Paslay seconded the motion. Ed Smith made a friendly amendment to pay only the deductible at this time and find out how many years the rate increase would be for. Cyndi Treaster accepted the amendment. Motion carried.
The city insurance was discussed. It was decided to check the present insurance company to see if coverage for personal vehicles could be added. If not, to check with other insurance companies.
Jay Stewart’s proposed development was discussed. No action was taken.
City water was discussed. No action taken.
Cyndi Treaster made a motion to adjourn. Ed Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried.
