March 1, 2004
Mayor Roy Paslay called the March 1, 2004 Lecompton CityCouncil meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Council was present. Alsopresent were the City Clerk, City Treasurer and city Superintendent.
Tim McNish made a motion to approve the minutes or theFebruary 17th meeting. Marsha Paslay seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Mark Tunstall made a motion to approve the bills. Marsha Paslay seconded the motion. Motion carried.
A representative from Douglas County Economic Developmnetwas present to give the year end report.
Cyndi Treaster made a motion to give the Territorial DayCommittee $500. Mark Tunstallseconded the motion. Motioncarried.
Cyndi Treaster made a motion to tell the citizen that hasapplied for housing recapture money that the council would be happy to considerhis request after his property is cleaned up. Property is to be cleaned up by June 1, 2004. If the property is cleaned by the citythere will be less money for the work on his house. Ed Smith seconded the motion. Motion carried.
The council discussed Ron Collette’s awning for hishouse. The council decided that ifthe awning is attached to the house he does need a building permit.
The donation from the Heritage Baptist Church wasdiscussed. It was decided to keepthe $30.00 donation to use for community use.
A meeting is scheduled for March 31, 2004 with DouglasCounty, the planning commission, the council and John Riggs. The meeting will be held in the cityhall at 6:35 PM.
The council discussed the water project. It was decided to ask Kenneth Shetler,an engineer, to the next meeting.
The city superintendent asked the council if he could usepart time help to trim trees. Thecouncil had no objections.
The council discussed widening Seventh Street by the homeowned by Tim McNish. It wasdecided to consult the attorney.
The council discussed the meter deposits collected beforethe new ordinance went into effect. It was decided to hold these deposits the old way.
The council discussed the water arrangements with theLecompton Ball Association. Noaction was taken.
Judy Billings discussed tourism.
Roy Paslay had the lot owned by the city on Elmore Streetappraised. The appraisal was$29,500.
The council discussed a conference table. No action was taken.
Ed Smith made a motion to adjourn. Marsha Paslay seconded the motion. Motion carried.
