MARCH 17, 2014 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7:00 P.M. Mayor Sandy Jacquot brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore, Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Mary Jane Hoffer, , Susie Hackathorn and Elsie Middleton were present at roll call. Council Member Jimmy Wilkins was absent. The following were also present: City Clerk Lynley Sanford, City Superintendent Rance Roberts, and City Treasurer Ronald Thacker. Residents attending included Jamin Nally and Jillian Rorigue from Douglas County Emergency management.

Elsie Middleton motioned to approve the March 03, 2014 City Council Meeting Minutes. Tim McNish seconded the motion. The only correction was to spell out MHP (mobile home park)
Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays.

Tim McNish motioned to approve the bills before the council. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays.

Jillian Rodrigue with Douglas County Emergency Management – needs supplies for Emergency Preparedness kits that are going to be given to our students in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. 180 kits are needed.
Elsie Middleton motioned to make a donation of $100 to go towards buying supplies for emergency preparedness kits for our elementary school students. Tim McNish seconded the motion. After further discussion, Elsie Middleton amended her original motion to donate $150.00 to Dg. Co. Emergency Management.

Rance –
– Review street repairs
– Discussed chip n’ seal – looked at projected cost
– Flush water lines April 1st, 2014
– Water meter at LES old gymnasium: consensus is for the city to replace the water meter, and then change the charging rate from the residential ¾” rate to the 1 ¼” rate.
– Pride building tuck pointing was looked at by both H&H and Denney Masonry.

Lynley –
– Dates for Garage sales, bulk trash, tire collection, and vet clinic
– Lecompton Community Egg Hunt – Elsie Middleton motioned to make a monetary donation to the City of Lecompton Community Egg Hunt in the amount of the donation from 2013. Susie Hackathorn seconded the motion.
Motion carried 4 yay, 0 nay

Old Business –
– Street light N. Elmore will be installed within the next 2 weeks.
– Dates for action on Allen Jack property- April 14th, 15th, 16th.
– Keep in mind this year we will want the water tower inspected and cleaned – review bids at next city council meeting.
– Territorial Day Committee will be looking into special event insurance for inflatables for Territorial Days through www.Eventhelper. Com – the insurance will be in the City’s name.

New Business –
– Electric Meter inspection permit for Lot 3B and Lecompton Mobile Home Park.
Tim McNish motioned to approve the electric inspection permit; Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.

Announcements –
– Update from Dg. Co. appraisers office – 2014 annual notice of value. The property that the City of Lecompton owns has increased in value. 2013 property values were $1,544,860.00, 2014 property values are $1,594,990.00.
– Mayor Sandy and Elsie filed the community building grant – the State of Kansas also applied for Constitution Hall –
– Pride rummage sale will be 3/28 & 3/29
– Monsanto grant for PRIDE will be presented Wednesday at 10am, 3rd floor auditorium.

8:36 PM – Elsie Middleton motioned to adjourn. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
