November 17, 2014 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7:00 P.M. Mayor Sandy Jacquot brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore, Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Mary Jane Hoffer, Jimmy Wilkins, Susie Hackathorn and Elsie Middleton were present at roll call. The following were also present: City Clerk Lynley Sanford, and City Treasurer Ronald Thacker. No residents or township members present.

Jimmy Wilkins motioned to approve the November 03, 2014 City Council Meeting Minutes with one correction. Add an “f” to Mary Jane Hoffer’s last name in paragraph 3. Tim McNish seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays.

Elsie Middleton motioned to approve the bills before the council. Jimmy Wilkins seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays

Ron Thacker – Treasurer’s report review.

Rance – not in attendance.
Lynley –
– Christmas Party Prep – Santa?, hot cocoa, received candy canes; coordinate with fire department about Santa’s arrival. Note: whomever is Santa, the City will gift a $25 G/C as a Thank You for being Santa. Additionally we will coordinate with council members and Aunt Netters Café for cookies.
– Park Equipment – Committee had first meeting, just got quotes on equipment putting info together and will have another committee meeting soon, working between holiday schedules.
– HP Printer replacement – reviewed suggestion from Daniel Hinrichsen. Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to purchase the HP LaserJet Pro printer as suggested by Daniel Hinrichsen. Elsie Middleton seconded the motion.

– Update on water-plant salt brine tank – overfilled – no properly sensing actual amount of water – Rance is working on it.

Old Business –
– Weed Nuisances: Council requested letter be sent to Belinda Janes regarding the condition of her yard, especially the accumulation of junk, send 10 day letter.
New Business –
– Shawn Ball Solid Waste disposal trash service contract – reviewed City Attorney Jeff Heiman’s report regarding the service contract. Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to accept the Trash Service Contract with one change, Pg. 4, X. Scope of work: City of Lecompton is located in: Change from Jefferson County to Douglas County. Susie Hackathorn seconded the motion.

– Michael Brouhard – Dog Issue – Council requested a letter regarding vicious dog insurance be sent to him, and code regarding licensing and registration of dogs/cats.
– Garage/Shop light to light east exit to Lecompton Community Pride Building. Jimmy Wilkins will check it out and install. Jimmy will also check out the light bulb on the Pride building. Bulb may be bad.
– City Hall motion light for Handicap accessible ramp. Jimmy Wilkins will check out – depends on if outside power.
– Job Applicant for Permanent Part-Time – Jessica Dark – Council discussed – unanimous decision to hire.
Announcements
– Street light pole decorations 11/18 & decorate park on 11/19 @ 10am
– Letter to Westar sent.

7:55 PM – Jimmy Wilkins motioned to adjourn. Elsie Middleton seconded the motion.
