August 3, 2015 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7:00 P.M. Mayor Sandy Jacquot brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore, Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Jimmy Wilkins, Mary Jane Hoffer, and Susie Hackathorn were present at roll call. Council member Elsie Middleton was absent. The following were also present: City Clerk Lynley Sanford and City Attorney Jeff Heiman. Residents attending included Karla Meyer and guest.

Jimmy Wilkins motioned to approve the July 20th, 2015 City Council Meeting Minutes. Tim McNish seconded the motion.
Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays.

Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to approve the bills before the council. Jimmy Wilkins seconded the motion.
Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays.

Karla Meyer – requested a donation for the Perry-Lecompton inter-library for operation expenses in the amount of $700. Jimmy Wilkins motioned to approve a donation in the amount of $700 for the Perry-Lecompton inter-library system. Susie Hackathorn seconded the motion.

Jeff Heiman –
– Sent order of violation to Jo and Lacey Falk on 7/27/2015 – no return receipt received yet. Put on next agenda.

Rance –
– Water operator classes at KU 8/4-8/7
– 8/11 Training in Mayetta

Lynley –
– 1st payment for flooring grant was received – $12,000 – make separate fund for grant proceeds
– Pride park message on sign – general consensus to put up welcome note for state pride reps
– Storage for equipment in CB – Jimmy Wilkins motioned to approve the City rent a 10×20 storage bay from Kroeger’s storage to hold tables/chairs from the community building. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays.

Old Business –
– Community Building excess items – consensus of the City Council is tables/chairs and other items that may not be kept will be dealt with after the project is complete.
– Crack sealing for 7th street and Whitfield street – RD Johnson charges $1.75/ft. Council requested a bid from Vance Brothers. And to check the procedure and make sure it’s the same
– Conditional Use Permit for Christmas Tree farm update: Lawrence/Douglas County Planning Commission: 6-2 Vote approval for the burning barrel. 800 sq.ft. operation and they will not be able to grow without refiling a permit. Meat will be trucked in by a standard pickup truck, but the committee did approve for no more than 2 semi’s a week if they ever grow to be that busy.
