November 19th, 2018 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7:00 P.M. Mayor Sandy Jacquot brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore, Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Mary Jane Hoffer, Jimmy Wilkins, Susie Hackathorn and Elsie Middleton were present at roll call. The following were also present: City Clerk Lynley Sanford and Superintendent Rance Roberts. There were no other residents or township members present.

Susie Hackathorn motioned to approve the City Council Meeting Minutes from November 5, 2018 with corrections. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays

Jimmy Wilkins motioned to approve the bills before the council. Tim McNish seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays

Brady Reimer was on the agenda to discuss the remaining year of the Trash service contract. He was not at the meeting for discussion. The Clerk let the council know that he had mentioned an increase in trash service rates and including a cart rental fee with the current service and having mandatory 90gal carts in the community.

Rance –
– No updates

Lynley –
– Resident reported that their neighbor has a Rottweiler and a Schnauzer that come into her yard not on a leash. The dogs bark and growl at her and her children when they are out playing. Just requesting that the neighbors keep dogs on their property and when they let them out they put them on a lead or something. The council asked that a letter be sent to the owners of the dogs.
– A report was called into the City regarding 416 Whitfield/Kevin and Carmela Huston. It was reported that they are renting out their garage and the tenant is parking in the alley, blocking alley access. The council requested a letter be sent the Huston’s asking them to cease and desist if they are renting out the garage space.

Old Business –
– Move City limit sign to edge of City Limits, have not heard back from Douglas County at this time.

New Business –
– Erin Herschell said she was interested in accepting the appointed position to the City Planning Commission. Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to accept the Mayors appointment of Erin Herschell to the Planning Commission. Jimmy Wilkins seconded the motion. Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays

Reminders –
– Capital Christmas tree coming through town on 11/20 @ Perry Middle School a12-2pm
– Office closed 11/22 & 11/23 for Thanksgiving
– Park lighting/Santa Visit 12/8 from 6:30-8p
– Historical Society will have an open house on 12/8 for Christmas tree exhibit opens at 7p
