City of Lecompton Council Meeting Minutes December 21, 2020

December 21, 2020 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7:00 P.M. Mayor Jimmy Wilkins brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 620 E. Woodson Ave, Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Stephanie Confer, Mary Jane Hoffer, Matt Roberts and Owen Mallonee were present at roll call. The following were also present: City Clerk Lynley Sanford and City Superintendent Rance Roberts. Residents or township members attending included James Peters. Meeting was streamed on Facebook live.

Matt Robets motioned to approve the meeting minutes for the December 7th, 2020. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays

Tim McNish motioned to approve the bills before the City Council. Owen Mallonee seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays.

City Council reviewed building permit for Jamie Peters accessory building. Permit no. 20-289. Tim McNish motioned to approve the plans, Stephanie Confer seconded the motion
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays.

Announce Holiday light contest winners. 1st place awarded to Maxine Brouhard at 410 E. Seventh. 2nd Place to Dustin Gruver 310 Isacks, and Jamie Newman 3rd place 420 Elmore. Nine total participants Troy Clark 422 Boone, Jack Oglesby 426 Halderman, Gerri Phillips 335 Isacks, Genie LeRoux 619 Whitfield Lot 6C, Yvonne Tunstall 709 Whitfield, and Renee Merritt 631 Whitfield. The council asked that Thank you Letters be sent to all participants.

Rance Roberts
– Ordered new drive shaft and bearing assembly. The current one is super rusty. Council may want to think about a new spreader. This one is 9 years old and the parts are not in stock in KC. Council recommended looking into the cost of a new spreader.
– Thank you card from the masonic lodge for use of the community building. The Masonic lodge in Lecompton is combining with the lodge in Perry to keep participant numbers up. Rance asked if the council is okay with the combined masonic lodge still using the community building. Council agreed it was okay.

Lynley Sanford
– Copy Machine lease comparisons between Toshiba and Century Business Technologies.
Stephanie Confer motioned to approve the Toshiba lease for 48 months. Owen Mallonee seconded the motion. Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays
– Proclamation, January school board member recognition month. Matt Roberts motioned to approve the proclamation. Stephanie Confer seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays.
– Cy tech came out to look at our council meeting chambers, recommended using a monitor instead of an overhead projector. Will have quotes for January council meeting. Still working on wifi at CB

– Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to reimburse Jimmy Wilkins for expenses for gift cards. Tim McNish seconded the motion. Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays
– Thank you to Mary Jane Hoffer for all her hard work at our food pantry and for serving so many in need in our community.
7:32PM – Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to adjourn. Stephanie Confer seconded the motion.
