ORDINANCE NO. 829

AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE COMPENSATION FOR CITY OFFICERS OF THE CITY OF LECOMPTON, KANSAS, AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 787 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF LECOMPTON, KANSAS, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF LECOMPTON, KANSAS:

Article 1. Ordinance No. 787, which repealed Ordinance No. 753 of the Code of the City of Lecompton, Kansas, is hereby amended to read as follows:

SECTION 1. The City Clerk’s duties will be as outlined in Section 1-305 of the Code of the City of Lecompton, Kansas and as otherwise determined by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Lecompton. The compensation and any other benefits for the City Clerk shall be determined by the City Council.

SECTION 2. The City Treasurer’s duties will be as outlined in Section 1-309 of the Code of the City of Lecompton, Kansas. The compensation and any other benefits for the City Treasurer shall be determined by the City Council.

SECTION 3. The City Attorney shall have the duties and responsibilities as outlined in Section 1-310 of the Code of the City of Lecompton, Kansas and as otherwise outlined by State Statute. The compensation for the City Attorney shall be determined by the City Council.

SECTION 4. When determining the compensation and other benefits of such City Officers, the City Council may consider factors, including but not limited to, experience, skills, performance, potential, the City’s financial condition, and the compensation of comparable officers in other Kansas third class cities.

Article 2. All ordinances or parts or sections of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

Article 3. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force after its adoption and publication in the official city newspaper.
