City Council Meeting Minutes December 5, 2022

December 05, 2022 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

7:00 P.M. Mayor Jimmy Wilkins brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore St. Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Mary Jane Hoffer, Stephanie Confer, and Owen Mallonee were present at roll call. Council Member Matt Roberts, Attorney Jeff Heiman and Superintendent Rance Roberts were absent. City Clerk Lynley Sanford was present. The following residents or township members present included: Jamin Nally, Kevin Confer, Norraine Wingfield, and Paul Bahnmaier.

Owen Mallonee motioned to approve the meeting minutes for November 21st, 2022. Matt Roberts seconded the motion. Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays

Tim McNish motioned to approve the bills before the council, Mary Jane seconded the motion.
Motion passed 4 yeas, 0 nays

Karen Willey – Spoke to the council about information regarding the increase from 3 commission representatives to 5 and the redistricting maps.

Paul Bahnmaier spoke to the council regarding the City of Lecompton being mentioned in a newspaper in the Netherlands. He also spoke a little bit about transportation to and from the old Sunflower Ammunition Plant where the Panasonic battery plant site will be.

Rance –
– Absent no updates
Lynley –
– Updates coming – working on meetings with BG consultants and school district – still waiting on KDOT environmental plan to proceed with easements.
– BRIC grants were not awarded to us for storm water or water plant backup generator.
– Old pole light Christmas decorations – what would the city council like to do with them? General consensus, if another city is interested, they can have them as long as they come pick them up. If they want them shipped, that city has to pay for shipping.

Old Business
– Park updates – potential ides on playground equipment pieces, will be sending out an email with links to potential pieces.
– Jeff Morris called tonight. He has no current updates, plans to be at the meeting on the 19th

New Business
– Employee job descriptions says unused vacation will be paid out at the end of the year, double checking to make sure the council is okay with this. Yes, pay out unused vacation.

8:04 PM – Mary Jane Hoffer motioned to adjourn. Stephanie Confer seconded the motion.
