October 25, 2023 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
4:30 P.M. Mayor Jimmy Wilkins brought the Special Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore St. Lecompton, KS. Council Members Tim McNish, Mary Jane Hoffer, Stephanie Confer, and Steve Freeman were present at roll call. Council Member Owen Mallonee was absent. City Clerk Lynley Sanford was also present. The following residents or township members present included: Jason Hoskinson, Dick and Norraine Wingfield, and Elsie Middleton.
City Council met with BG Consultant Jason Hoskinson regarding the KDOT sidewalk project.
Jason Hoskinson reviewed the awarded bid from KDOT for the sidewalk project.
The council needs to decide if they will award the sidewalk bid for the base project or the base bid plus the additive.
The base bid is for sidewalks south of 3rd street, includes the bridge/culvert replacement on Boone street and replacing the steps leading up to the Old Lecompton Rural High-School
The Base bid plus Additive is for sidewalks from the North end of town connecting Democratic Headquarters and Bald Eagle Park to the central business districts and then to the South end of town. It also includes the bridge/culvert replacement on Boone Street and replacing the steps leading up to the Old Lecompton Rural High School.
Jason provided things that the council needed to consider for the project, like unknowns that could increase cost of the project.
Stephanie Confer motioned to approve the base bid plus the additive in the amount of $289,172.00. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
