July 1, 2024 LECOMPTON CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
7:00 P.M. Mayor Jimmy Wilkins brought the Lecompton City Council Meeting to order at 327 Elmore St. Lecompton, KS. Council Members Troy Clark, Mary Jane Hoffer, Stephanie Confer, Steve Freeman and Owen Mallonee were present at roll call. City Clerk Lynley Sanford was also present. City Superintendent Rance Roberts was absent. There were no residents or township members present.
Owen Mallonee motioned to approve the meeting minutes from June 17th, 2024. Steve Freeman seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5 yeas, 0 nays
Steve Freeman motioned to approve the bills before the council. Troy Clark seconded the motion.

Jeff Heiman –
– No updates for the city council
Rance Roberts –
– Just a note that Rance will be out from 7/11-7/14
– Alexander pump will be here at the end of July
– Council asked when Rance has time to check out the A/C on the 3rd floor in the Gods closet.
Lynley –
– Will be out of the office 8/5-8/9. Penny Bahret will cover 2 out of the 3 office days. Mary Jane Hoffer said she may be able to cover Monday if it’s not already covered.
Old Business updates –
– The next construction meeting is Wednesday July 3rd at 9am at City Hall.
– The superintendent position has been posted with Peaslee Tech and Washburn Tech as well as the vindicator, online on Indeed.com, LJ world online and the Tonganoxie mirror.
New Business
– Lawrence Chamber of Commerce celebrated 35 years of partnership with Lecompton Historical Society and working with Paul Bahnmaier on 6/26/2024. Had a nice reception with volunteers and business partners in Lecompton.
– 3 Contacts were made for fencing companies to submit bids to fulfill the fencing needs for the easement agreements for the sidewalk project. Bids were received from AAA Fencing and Kansas Fencing, Inc.
Troy Clark motioned to approve the bid from Kansas Fencing, Inc. Stephanie Confer seconded the motion.

– USD 343 school district spoke called the city to discuss adjusting the building permit fee. After discussing, the City Council asked that this be tabled for now and placed on the next agenda.
– City council was provided 2 applications that had been submitted to the City. The City council determined they would not pursue interviews with the applicant at this time.
7:54pm – Stephanie Confer motioned to adjourn. Mary Jane Hoffer seconded the motion.
