October 30, 2006 Lecompton City Council Special Meeting Minutes
7:00 P.M. Mayor Roy Paslay brought the Special City Council Meeting to order. Council members Mark Tunstall, Tim McNish, Chuck Folks, Ed Smith and Bruce Liese were present. Superintendent Justin VanWinkle and City Clerk Sandy Nichols
There was discussion regarding the need of a concrete ramp at the sand/salt storage facilities.
It was noted that Pastor Ken requested the time of the City Program remain at 6 PM for the park lighting and Santa to arrive at 6:15. Ed reported he had had a conversation with someone requesting to have the city move the park lighting to Sunday Dec. 3. Tim McNish made a motion to leave the Christmas times as they are. Chuck Folks seconded the motion and the vote approving and one, Ed Smith opposed.
Justin reported on information he had collected regarding selling and purchasing of vehicles and plows. After discussion Bruce Liese made a motion to sell the big truck, keep the sander, the plow and use monies to get a new truck and plow in the future. Ed seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. The City employees are to put a sealed bid request in the paper including the right to reject any/all bids. Written bids will be opened Nov. 20th at the council meeting. The truck is also to be set by the road with a for sell sign on it.
After discussion regarding the concrete ramp, Chuck made a motion to pour a concrete pad at this time. Ed seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
Paul Bahnmaier requested use of the Community building for 90 students to eat their lunches on Nov. 1 or Nov. 9. There was discussion as to who would clean the building after use. It is understood the students will clean leave the building as clean as it was found. Bruce made a motion to waive the $30 fee for 90 students to eat their lunch in the Community Building Nov. 1 or Nov 9. (Correction addition: Ed Smith seconded) The vote was unanimous.
The purchase of a skid loader was an error on the agenda.
After discussion regarding a tandem trailer at the Kansas Federal Surplus Distribution, Bruce made a motion to purchase the trailer for $1000 or less. Tim seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
Justin would like to take vacation around Nov 24 – Dec 4. The council instructed him to contact RWD #3 and use rural water during the time he is out of town.
7:52 P.M. Bruce made a motion to adjourn. Chuck seconded and the vote was unanimous.
