Minutes December 10, 2007
Call to Order at 7:02 p.m. by Jennifer Smith. Present were Jennifer Smith, Paul Maline, Jeff Robertson, and Darby Lohrding.
Jeff moved and Darby seconded to approve November minutes. Motion passed 4-0.
New business: Proposal for re-zoning of land north of K-10, I-70 Interchange. The commission looked over materials sent from Lawrence/Douglas County Planning Commission including the application for re-zoning and the map. Jen shared verbal info from city planner Sandy Day about request in 2004 for same property. At that time, the Lawrence Douglas County Planning Commission recommended to not approve the application and the Douglas County Commissioners voted to approve the application 2-1, but it could not be approved because of a protest petition.
At 7:34 p.m. Jen adjourned the meeting to Lawrence City Hall on December 17, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.
December 17, 2007
Met at 6:30 p.m. for joint meeting with Lawrence/Douglas County Planning Commission. Joint meeting began at 8:45 pm. Present were Jennifer Smith, Jeff Robertson, Paul Maline, and Darby Lohrding. Jen introduced the Lecompton Planning Commission.
Planner Sandy Day presented the staff report. Attorney Jane Eldredge presented information on behalf of the developer.
The public hearing opened and comments were received from the several citizens – official record with Lawrence/Douglas County Planning office. After public comment all commissioners asked questions of the city county planning staff and of Jane Eldredge. After much discussion, Jeff Robertson moved to recommend approval of the request. Paul Maline seconded the motion. The vote was 2-2 with Jeff and Paul in favor and Jen and Darby opposed. Jen reported to the Lawrence/Douglas County Planning Commission that the Lecompton Planning Commission split their vote, therefore they had to recommendation regarding the approval/disapproval of the application.
The Lawrence/Douglas County Planning Commission then preceded to further discuss and voted to recommend approval (official record with the city/county planning office). Jeff moved to adjourn and Darby seconded the motion at 11:43 p.m. Motion passed 4-0.
